new vivienne westwood store celebrated it's opening in vienna this monday (tuchlauben 12 in first district)
too bad my favourite item wasn't exactly shoplifting-size, a tiny bit too bulky for my purse. in every sense.
this would have been the next best shoplifting project, but the door already started beeping when i went past with my glass of bubbly. they know when treasure leaves the premises!
sure, there were plenty of more "wearable" things in there, but if you make it westwood, you might well make it right:
think i know where vivienne goes when she's looking for inspration - the victoria&albert museum, london
a stop at the v&a and their current ball gown exhibition was part of the tour esprit organised for press to celebrate the launch of their project with rca fashion graduates
the museum didn't allow any photos taken inside the ball gown exhibition which is a shame as they not only had historical items but also the most amazing modern pieces from gareth pugh to alexander mc queen but i could snap a few things from their costume section outside this special showcase
how wow
or from the more modern section: hubert de givenchy, 1964
and one by jeanne lanvin, 1936
if you visit the museum some time the next month make sure to stop by their current small exhibition on japanese lolita fashion, explaining the influences of developments like...
punk lolita
gothic lolita
sweet lolita (uh oh!)
and japanese lolita
sure vivienne would be really into thi exhibition too - if she didn't already go to japan often enough to enjoy the real thing walking past her on the streets...
